In the Gentian Customer Story - Canine CRP series we present how some of our valuable customers incorporate our Canine CRP assay in both clinical and laboratory settings to improve diagnostic efficiency.
Canine CRP at Langford Vets
Langford Vets, located in Bristol, UK, serves as the clinical teaching platform for the University of Bristol Veterinary School and has a state-of-the-art diagnostic laboratory. This customer story examines Langford Vets' successful implementation of the Gentian Canine CRP Immunoassay, and highlights its impact on diagnostic efficiency and patient care.
Implementation of Canine CRP testing
Langford Vets integrated the Gentian Canine CRP Immunoassay into their diagnostic repertoire early 2023. The in-house laboratory utilises advanced instrumentation, including the Konelab Prime 60i and Indiko Plus analysers.
To ensure a smooth transition to the assay, one of the Gentian application specialists provided on-site validation on the Konelab Prime 60i. As the assay can be applied on a wide range of instruments, it is highly prioritised at Gentian to facilitate adoption by offering application notes and aid in instrument validations on instruments at customer sites.
By incorporating the Gentian Canine CRP assay, Langford Vets has enhanced its ability to detect systemic inflammation, provide rapid diagnosis, analyse treatment responses and monitor disease activity in canine patients.
Canine CRP – A tool to detect and monitor inflammation
Kay Burt, Senior Biochemistry Laboratory Scientist at Langford Vets, describes that the Gentian canine CRP assay is an important tool for diagnosing and monitoring inflammation, especially due to the assay's ability to deliver accurate results. She highlights that the assay’s utilisation of canine-specific antibodies and antigens enhances its reliability by minimising cross-reactivity, an important factor in veterinary diagnostics. She recommends the assay to labs that want to advance canine diagnostics.
“I really appreciate Gentian customer care team. They have been super helpful from the validation stage and are always there to support with any issues that pop up.”
