Our Canine CRP team looks forward to meeting you at Veterinærdagene (Veterinary days) March 14th-15th in Bergen, Norway. We will be at stand #46 ready to talk about our canine CRP immunoassay and diagnostic efficiency.
The Gentian Canine CRP Immunoassay was launched in 2013 and have since been used in several global reference laboratories. The assay is developed by Gentian and is produced at the Gentian HQ in Moss, Norway.
The Gentian Canine CRP assay can be run on all major clinical chemistry instruments and is rapidly performed in only 10 minutes. The assay has a wide measuring range from ~10 to 300 mg/L, with a security zone up to 1000 mg/L. Healthy dogs typically have levels below 10 mg/L with the Gentian Canine CRP assay.
A key advantage of Gentian’s test is the use of canine-specific CRP antibodies, produced by vaccinating hens with CRP antigen of canine-origin, with subsequent isolation from egg yolk. This leads to lower batch-to-batch variability compared to assays using CRP antibodies of human origin.1 As Canine CRP, unlike human CRP, is glycosylated at two of five subunits, a major benefit of the Gentian assay is the consistent specificity toward canine CRP, fully avoiding the dependence on cross-reactivity such as the case with assays using human antibodies.2 Additionally, as the assay utilises avian antibodies, interference with mammalian factors and receptors is minimised compared to assays using mammalian antibodies.3
