Calprotectin as a marker of inflammation

A new article about the role of calprotectin as an early biomarker of bacterial infections in critically ill patients has recently been published by Jonsson, N. et al in the Critical Care & Resuscutation Journal. The conclusion of the article is that plasma calprotectin appears to be a useful early marker of bacterial infections in critically ill patients, with better predictive characteristics than WBC and PCT.
