The Gentian Retinol-Binding Protein immunoassay offers a reliable and efficient assay to measure and monitor RBP levels, enhancing diagnostic capabilities across multiple conditions. Visit us at booth #115 at EuroMedLab 2025 or book a meeting ahead: marketing@gentian.com.
Retinol-Binding Protein (RBP) is a versatile biomarker that not only helps in assessing vitamin A status, but also provides insights into nutritional health, diabetes risk, and renal function.
RBP is a carrier protein for vitamin A (retinol) in blood. RBP is synthesised and stored in the liver until it binds to retinol and enters circulation. It is cleared by renal filtration after retinol release, where it is almost completely reabsorbed by the proximal renal tubule.1,2 The concentration of RBP in circulation remains semi-constant in healthy individuals, though the levels can be altered in many conditions and disorders such as:
Gentian’s instrument-independent turbidimetric assay is designed for quantitative determination of retinol-binding protein in plasma and serum, featuring liquid reagents ready for use.
The assay boasts high precision with a coefficient of variation (CV) below 5% and a limit of quantification (LoQ) at 7.81 mg/L. The measuring range extends from 7.8 to 139 mg/L, making it suitable for various clinical needs.
